Mountboard

We use alphamat artcare from Bainbridge Neilsen as standard, as quite simply we believe it is the best conservation mountboard available. With a main colour palet of 135 colours plus colour cores including Black, Blue, Green and Grey, colour choice is assured. For that particularly valuable piece of art, Alpharag Artcare made from 100%cotton rag is also available. Whatever you may have read recently about mountboards and 'standards', the reality is that most mountboards sold in the Uk today, including some sold as 'conservation', still bleed, still fade and may still contain highly damaging levels of acid because they use cheaper re-cycled pulp in all or parts of the board. Artcare mountboards are made only from best quality virgin alpha-cellulose pulp.

This give a guarantee of an acid content below the maximum levels specified in international standards plus a guarantee that the mountboard will not fade or bleed. Additionally, it is now known that the deterioration of paper and film is caused by common air pollutants in our atmosphere which are often worse inside buildings. Artcare's unique patented molecular traps, built into the paper structure, are known to trap these pollutants and stop them attacking the framed piece - significantly extending the life of items framed with Artcare. Which is why Artcare boards are also specified and trusted by museums and collectors.
